Interculturality is distinct from multiculturalism, which describes the coexistence of diverse cultures in a community and the set of rules that enable different identities to live side by side. Multiculturalism does not aim for unity in diversity. It does not encourage interaction and communication between people of different cultures or with the native population. It is not particularly concerned with cohesion or integration.
