After studying law, in particular constitutional law, and then peace sciences at the Transcend University of Johan Galtung, one of the fathers of peace sciences, Christophe Barbey himself teaches at this online university. He is the founder of APRED, an association that conducts research in the field of peace and demilitarization. In 2009, he was asked to participate in the drafting of a proposal to include peace and fundamental rights in the future Geneva constitution, along with 9 other associations, including his own. He is also a member of Graines de Paix, KOFF, CENAC and IPB. He is also a poet, and takes pleasure in using the title Irénologue (from the Greek word Eirene: peace), which he defines as peace promoter.
