Biography:

The author's story is all the more poignant in that his son Uri was killed during the Lebanon war in 2006, two days after Grossman had organized, along with other Israeli figures, a press conference calling on the authorities to accept a ceasefire and allow a negotiated solution. Grossman's writings seek to provide the keys to calming relations between Israelis and Palestinians. The author has received the following awards: - Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et Belles Lettres (France) - Prix Valumbrosa (Italy) - Eliette von Karajan Prize (Austria), Grinzane and Mondelo Prizes (Italy) - Marsh Award for Children's Literature in Translation (England), Prix Sapir (Israel) - Buxtehude Bulle (Germany).
