Biography:

Rajmohan Gandhi is both the grandson of Mohandas Gandhi, through his father, Devadas Gandhi, the youngest of Gandhi's sons, and the grandson through his mother of the first Governor General of independent India, Chakravarti Rajagopalachari Rajaji, one of the great leaders of independence. On the political front, he was a member of the Senate of the Indian Parliament and also represented India at the UN Commission on Human Rights. A visiting professor at several universities, including the University of Illinois in the Department of South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, he has written extensively. Associated with the peace and reconciliation NGO Initiatives of Change International since the 1960s, he was elected President in 2009.
