A French diplomat of Lebanese origin, Jacques Hallak worked for many years as Director of IIEP (International Institute for Educational Planning), a UNESCO body. In this capacity, he published a number of works and studies, notably on corruption in education and documented ways of preventing it. He has been equally interested in the quality of education, from the very beginnings of this appellation, advocating in particular an education open to the richness of others, favoring student autonomy as a means both of developing students' capacity for freedom and of implementing human rights.
