Biography:

Frédéric Lenoir specializes in the multidisciplinary approach to religion, combining philosophy, sociology and history. He is the author of numerous philosophical and initiatory works on religion, spirituality and happiness. He has also edited several encyclopedias on these subjects, directed TV documentaries and written comic strips. He has sold over 2.5 million books in 25 countries. Born in Madagascar, then raised in Paris, he went on to study philosophy at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland, then in 1999 obtained his doctorate with honors on Buddhism in the West at the EHESS (Paris) (published in 2 books - see books on Buddhism below). During his studies, his personal spiritual quest led him to live in India and Israel, as well as in hermitages and Christian monasteries in France. He was a research associate at the Centre d'Etudes Interdisciplinaires du Fait Religieux at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS/ CNRS) and Director of Le Monde des Religions magazine during the 2000s.
