Peace-critical skills (peace-critical thinking)

More specifically, peace-critical thinking skills are critical thinking skills such as decentration, distancing and discernment, which serve :

  • to understand interactions between individuals and groups from the perspective of appeasement.
That is, to analyze acts, gestures, decisions and discourses – current or historical – with the aim of grasping which ones promote appeasement and peace – and which ones have produced or will produce the opposite effect, or simply enable it.

  • to protect themselves from possible manipulations
    (demagogic, identity-based, consumerist or other)

This term and its English translation (peace-critical thinking skills) were formulated by Grains of Peace in 2009 to encourage their teaching at school and in life.
