Writer, philosopher and intellectual who vehemently denounced the attachment to notions of race, class and nation, and their use as instruments of humiliation and social hatred.

Country: French

Date: 1867 - 1956

Biography:

The author constantly sought to encourage intellectuals to discard notions of people or homeland, because they stir up xenophobia and conflict, and to once again become the guarantors of human and spiritual values, and in particular of the disinterested ideals of justice, truth and freedom, far removed from political contingencies. He was at once anti-militarist and anti-pacifist, anti-anti-Semitic and anti-Jewish nationalist, because he was opposed to outrages of both left and right.
