Biography:

Anwarul Chowdhury was one of the main protagonists in persuading the UN to pass the resolutions that defined the culture of peace and established the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World (2001-2010) (A/RES/53/25 and A/RES/53/243). Course : 2003-2005: UN Secretary-General of the International Meeting (10 year review of the Barbados Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of the Small Island Developing States, Mauritius, January 10-14, 2005. 2002: UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries and Landlocked Developing Countries.... 1996-2001: Ambassador of Bangladesh, Permanent Representative to the United Nations, New York, during which period he was : - President of the Security Council, defender of the famous Security Council resolution 1325 on women - President of UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) - Member of the Executive Board and Vice-President of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) - Least developed countries coordinator.
