Biography:
Born in Warsaw, Marek Halter's life as a child was marked by flight to the Soviet Union shortly after the Nazi invasion, deportation to Kokand, Uzbekistan, with a million other refugees, and return to Warsaw after the war. His parents moved to France in 1950, where he has lived ever since.
