Ethnocentrism

It is an attitude of unconscious origin, which consists in considering one’s own culture as a model, and perceiving all differences from this model as a sign of inferiority. Ethnocentrism often gives rise to the notion ofevolutionism.

Anthropologist Claude Levi-Strauss constructed the concept of ethnocentrism by analogy with that of egocentrism. But unlike egocentrism, the focus is not on oneself, but on one’s own culture.
