Proactive peace

Proactive peace means making the choice to appease the other’s anger, aggression and desire for violence; it means first making gestures of appeasement towards the person or people with whom you’re in conflict.

Several methods can contribute to this proactive peace dynamic, for example:

   * consensus-building, mutual acceptance of compromise
* the power of creative proposals to overcome opposing positions
* non-violent communication techniques
* mediation and negotiation techniques
* peace reflex tools.

We can thus distinguish between peace within ourselves (inner peace), active peace, interactive peace and proactive peace, as shown in the following table of possible attitudes.
