Exact text of the CONFEMEN* definition of quality education
Political decision-makers need to take an interest in the quality of education, not only in the context of acquiring knowledge and developing skills, but also in the context of sustainable development. This means helping students to become well-educated, thoughtful, responsible and active citizens, capable of exercising their intellectual skills of creation, analysis and judgment, while enabling them to blossom, exploit their full potential and develop their personality. This quality education must enable them to become truly integrated into their environment and contribute to the development of the society in which they live, in all its dimensions.

Notes:
– See also the definitions of education for a culture of peace(1, 2) for comparison.
– Education for a culture of peace is exactly that, with added resources for building an environment based on the easing of tensions and violence, sensitivity to others and convergence towards harmony – through an awareness of what a culture of peace is.
