Pedagogies become transformational when they combine the following four levers:
- Positive authority postures
- Teaching practices that are interactive and inclusive of all students
- Experiential activities to awaken students’ human values and exercise their skills, including their peace skills (listening, dialogue, collaboration, mutual aid, creative conflict resolution, intercultural fluency, eco-citizenship…).
- A safe, nurturing learning environment.
As far as teaching practices are concerned, they call in particular for participative, cooperative, collaborative, democratic, resolutive and proactive practices.
To be effective, they integrate:

- the whole-school approach
- support for learners’ everyday actions in favor of peace.
