Oh!<br\/>Round, smooth and sharp!<br\/>To me, this elephant<br\/>Looks like a spear!&#8221; <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The third went towards the animal,<br\/>took the undulating trunk<br\/>in his hands and said:<br\/>&#8220;For me, the elephant is like a snake&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fourth reached out an impatient hand,<br\/>Palpa the knee<br\/>And was convinced that an elephant<br\/>Resembled a tree!<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fifth having casually seized the ear, said:<br\/>&#8220;Even to the blindest of the blind,<br\/>This elephant marvel<br\/>Is like a fan!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sixth groped for the animal<br\/>And, grabbing hold of the tail that swept the air,<br\/>Perceived something familiar:<br\/>&#8220;I see,&#8221; he said, &#8220;the elephant is like a rope!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So the 6 blind men<br\/>Discussed long and passionately,<br\/>Falling into one excess or another,<br\/>Insisting on what they believed to be right.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They didn&#8217;t seem to get along,<br\/>When a wise man, passing by,<br\/>Heard them arguing.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;What are you so agitated about?&#8221; he said.<br\/>&#8221; We can&#8217;t agree<br\/>on what the elephant looks like!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And each of them told him what they thought about it.<br\/>The wise man, with his little smile, explained to them:<br\/>&#8220;You&#8217;ve all said the truth!<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If each of you describes the elephant<br\/>so differently,<br\/>It&#8217;s because each of you has touched<br\/>A very different part of the animal!<br\/>The elephant really does have the features<br\/>That you&#8217;ve all described.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Oooooooh!&#8221; everyone exclaimed.<br\/>And the discussion came to a screeching halt!<br\/>And they were all happy to have told the truth,<br\/>For everyone held a piece of the truth.<br\/> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">***************************************************************************************<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Jainism, it is explained that truth can be affirmed in seven different ways.<br\/>You can thus see how rich this religion is.<br\/>It teaches us to be tolerant of others regarding their views.<br\/>This enables us to live in harmony with people who think differently from us.<br\/>Jainists call this sy\u0101dv\u0101da&#8221;, &#8220;anek\u0101ntav\u0101da&#8221; or the theory of multiple affirmations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first approached the elephantAnd, as he slidAgainst its vast, robust flank,He exclaimed, &#8220;God bless me,An elephant is like a [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","tags":[],"ressources-theme":[335,361,323,368],"category-ressources":[296,439,438],"class_list":["post-8091","ressource","type-ressource","status-publish","hentry","ressources-theme-awareness","ressources-theme-curiosity","ressources-theme-prejudice","ressources-theme-truth","category-ressources-get-inspired","category-ressources-tales","category-ressources-tales-fables-stories"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 -
