Peace is not simply the absence of conflict, but a positive, dynamic, participatory process that fosters dialogue and conflict resolution in a spirit of mutual understanding and cooperation.

Graines de Paix:<\/b>
Peace is said to be positive when it is defined by what it is<\/i>:
In its simplest formulation, it is the presence of harmony.
In a more complete formulation, it is the presence of botha state of harmony<\/i> anda dynamic process <\/i>in favor of a culture of peace, to replace a culture of violence and develop lasting harmonious relationships imbued with humanity.<\/p>\n

Other positive definitions of peace (suggested by Graines de Paix)<\/b><\/p>\n

Peace is an active process that goes beyond a non-violent attitude, seeking ways not only to resolve a conflict, but also to establish lasting bonds and a spirit of respect and understanding between parties.<\/p>\n

Peace is a perpetual weaving of warm, neighborly relations based on human values and the creativity of all to overcome difficulties, clashes and their own frustrations.<\/p>\n

Peace is a solid, lasting relationship based on<\/i> respect, serenity, cordiality and good intelligence between human beings. It is founded as much on the expression of the heart as on reason. It is through human warmth that violence can be transcended. <\/p>\n

Peace is a choice of life in which human interactions are based on human impulses<\/i> capable of reversing the violent tendencies of the powerful, the vindictive and the angry, by touching their hearts and their minds. A choice of life that is at once individual, collective, economic and political. <\/p>\n
